I would see if you have a progressive scan function on the DVD player. Other causes may be if you have the right DVI adaptor. There are several types of DVI-D, DVI-I etc. recearch this on the link I provide below compared to what you physically have.

This is normal. Underneath all the wizbang new technology is a very simple BIOS with low resolution graphics and simple I/O functions… And that's a good thing. The less drivers and software you have running at this point, the better off you are since you want to minimize the chances of any kind of software crash at the basic hardware level.

This video is fake I think, because his monitor has a DVI-port, not only that but the cords that are plugged into his monitor do not look anything like mayflashes vga cord, google it if you dont believe me you can see the no pieces are round, also he has a cord running from the DVI-port, and VGA port why?

lol. DVI port does not mean it has HDCP. My computer is plugged into the DVI plug at the same time as my PS3 is plugged into VGA, this monitor has both ports. I can swap between VGA and DVI (PS3 and computer) by pressing a button. That cylinder piece on one of the cables is the DVI one going to my computer, the other one is the VGA. Think, what possible reason in the world is there for me to fake this? You obviously know that the cable exists so why would I bother making a fake video of it?

first don't buy dell. second you should have bought before vista came out because there is nothing but problems with vista. Now the problem is it will dell or with vista. You can call dell and stay on hold for 12 hours or you can go to http://www.microsft.com and see if you can find an answer there.

Well. Actually it might not wrong. If you are running hdmi to a dvi adapter there's a problem…I understand why your doing it but don't you think its odd there's no HDMI input for the monitor? Now I'm not entirely familiar with monitor but if it doesn't support 720p it won't support 1080i sound like to me it just reverting back to what it does support and letting you know its not supporting 1080i. I could be wrong but all tv's and monitors that I know of will support 720p if it supports 1080i. Did you notice a differnce in picture quality when that little notice floats around the screen? If not it is just going back to 420p.
OR there's a incompatibily issue with HDMI, and DVI and monitor. And its trying to display image but is having some issues that are not so obviously displayed If that's so. That little message will never go away.
Again I could be wrong but I've a few PC's and I own a ps3. And I've never heard of this before.
OR…. try and mess with the support in I believe "my computer" section. You might be able to tweak to setting to get the 720p as well. It could be any of the above.

I got the ASUS 24″ LCD supports 1080p the only time I get blackouts is when I start/exit games, movies and apps it’s because some games don’t support 1080p so the ps3 has to pick the best resalution the game supports.

i downloaded this absolutely free on my PC. Google “ps3 quick download” and simply click the first link. It’s a excellent game! All the latest ps3 games are there for download on the “ps3 quick download” site!

Yeah, it's likely the LCD or some subcomponent therein. It could be the cable on the LCD, but that still means it'd have to be replaced.

I can’t play dvds with that cable
i think they are scaled to sdtv resolution and my screen says ‘out of range’ .. What can I do to play dvds on 720p? Btw 720p is the only working resolution..
January 5th, 2010 on 5:35 am
I’ve got that cable today, Setup took me 10 minutes. It has a great quality on my 19″ widescreen tft! The resolution I use is 720p.
I also connected my speakers and the audio quality is also great.
The only problem I have is that the screen turns black for 2 seconds every 3 minutes but it’s ok. Much better than that old cheap small tv

If you have an ATI or NVIDIA video card you should be able to adjust the color in the card's control panel.
There are probably also color adjustments available on the HDTV, but try the video card first.
